My name is Scott Lusby and I am the principal and tour guide at Bushies Blackall Tours. I am a retired Stock and Station Agent / Auctioneer living in the Central Western Queensland town of Blackall. I’ve spent my working life in the bush, starting as a Jackeroo and then stock camp ringer before embarking on a Stock & Station Agency career.

Prior to retirement, I had run my own private agency business in Blackall as well as a stint operating the Blackall Picture Theatre.

Bushies Blackall Tours

Getting involved in the Blackall community I watched as literally 100,000’s of tourists wandered through Blackall on their way North or South without ever knowing or seeing what this great town and district has to offer. I decided that I wanted to change that and hence started Bushies Blackall Tours.

Blackall Saleyard Tours

Having spent countless hours working in Blackall and many other saleyards across Queensland, I have literally had a lifetime of experience in selling livestock by auction. I believe that experience made me well qualified to conduct tours of the Blackall Saleyard complex. I took the idea to the saleyard owners, the Blackall – Tambo Shire Council. After a time the council agreed that saleyard tours were something they would allow and Bushies Blackall Tours tendered for and won the right to conduct them. Read all the tour details here.

Shamrock Street ‘Honour Walk’

Blackall has an amazing part in Western Queensland history and much of it is right here on the main street, Shamrock Street. Over a period of time, I walked the street and put together a tour that would allow me in just a couple of hours to give visitors a really good briefing on this history, by visiting the historical landmarks. Hence I launched the “Honour Walk’ tour on Wednesday and Saturday mornings. You can read the full details here.

Bushies Twighlight River Camp Show

I love nothing better on a weekend to saddle up my horse and go for a ride down along the river. On a number of occasions while riding past the free campground on the river I was stopped by people free camping there and asked about what there was to do in Blackall. One thing led to another and one Sunday a mate and I rode down and put on a ‘show’ for the campers. That was the beginning of the Bushies Twighlight River Camp Show. You can read the show’s full details here.

Bush Poetry

I am also a published Bush Poet. My “yarns in verse” tell the stories of Bush Life, Bush Characters, and our Bush Heritage based on my own life experiences. Over time I will be publishing more of my poems on this site. You can read those here on the Bush Poetry page.

Looking forward to meeting you when you visit Blackall.

Cheers Scott
